Natyam

Nritta
“bhaavaabhinaya heenantu nrittamityabhidheeyate”
Nritta is the dance which does not relate to any psychological state (Bhava) and is not pertaining to any emotional state of mind but follows Taala and Laya
Nrtya
“rasabhaava vyanjanaadhiyuktam nrtyamiteeryate”
Nrtya is the dance form adorned with sentiment (Rasa) and psychological state (Bhava). It is deemed fit for presentation in royal courts.
Lasya
“sukumaarantu tallasyam”
This Style is taught to Parvati by Lord Shiva Hence; mostly this style is done alone by ladies. In this Lasya the movements of the limbs will be so graceful and it cultivates a feeling of love in the viewer’s mind.
Tandava
“uddhatam taandavam vidhuhu”
The vigorous movement of the limbs without any Bhava is called Tandava. It cultivates enjoyment in the minds of viewers.
